Is Your Refrigerator Running?

I’m not normally one for bells and whistles when it comes to my appliances. Form and function, without all the fuss, is my creed.

But with Miele’s new MasterCool refrigeration line, these bells and whistles are more than sound—they’re substance too. An alarm alerts you if you’ve left your fridge door open for more than five minutes. (Don’t worry about obnoxious beeping—if you’re keeping that door open for a reason, like a refrigerator deep clean, you can turn the alarm off.)

Even more high tech—a remote wireless sytem inside the fridge emails Miele’s support staff if something malfunctions in your refrigerator while you’re away from home. You’ll get a phone call from your local Miele service center, letting you know of the problem and offering to go into your home and fix it.

This fridge also knows what temperatures are perfect for your groceries. With four different temp regions, you simply choose what food item you’re putting where, and your fridge knows what temperature works best.

Of course, all this technology comes with the striking stylings of a high-end appliance—those mini-spotlights make last week’s groceries look more like an art installation.

The MasterCool system will be available in April in several different sizes and styles.
